The CACP has elected Chief Danny Smyth of the Winnipeg Police Service to serve as the new President of the association for a two-year term. He was unanimously supported by the membership during the Annual General Meeting on July 25th, 2022.

On June 1, 2023, the federal government of Canada proclaimed that the first Friday of June shall be designated the National Day Against Gun Violence.

The federal government has introduced an amended Bill C-21 to help reduce gun violence in Canada. The CACP agrees with the proposed changes of Bill C-21 in principle, but we must now focus on what these mean in practice.
