The CACP Research Foundation is leading the development of an updated Canadian Police Executive Research Agenda (RA). The RA will define the direction of policing research across police, academic, government/funding sectors for the next two to three years. The objectives of this project are to identify critical research needs within Canadian policing and to identify a mobilization strategy that will accelerate the development and accessibility of research in support of police decision making.
A recent survey of CACP members and other stakeholders provided significant input about the most important issues and research needs facing law enforcement in Canada. We also explored the challenges of creating and accessing policing research.
Survey and interview feedback will be presented at a consultative Workshop on the 22nd of March 2017, bringing together thought leaders to validate, refine and collectively agree on the second Canadian Executive Research Agenda and a supportive research mobilization strategy. This group will include police leaders, academics, policy makers and those who may look for direction and input when defining their own priorities.
The Workshop will be held one day before the 2017 CACP RF Conference , a national research event that will examine societal issues leading to interaction with vulnerable populations, and offer tangible, evidence-based strategies for results in the community.
